2003-2006 Honda / Acura CD Changer Interface Model HONASX V.2 Installation

The HONASX can either provide up to 2 auxiliary audio inputs to your Honda radio for use with any device that has RCA line level outputs, or provides 1 auxiliary audio input and allows interfacing an aftermarket CD Changer. AUX 1 is the 8 pin DIN to RCA cable which plugs into the 8 pin DIN port on the HONASX interface. AUX 2 is the set of RCAs that are wired directly to the HONASX. These audio inputs are perfectly suited for Multimedia devices such as VCRs, DVD’s, Game Systems or TV tuners. Portable music players such as MP3, MD and CD players can utilize these inputs as well.

Installation and USE:
Using AUX1 & AUX 2 Inputs Without Aftermarket CD Changer
To select AUX 1 , make sure that the BROWN loop wire is connected, and the WHITE loop wire is disconnected. Press the CD/AUX button on the factory radio.
Audio will now pass through from the AUX 1 input and the radio will display: 1-You can select the AUX 2 input in two different ways:
1.) Activating AUX 2 using negative ground. Attach GRAY wire on the HONASX to a toggle switch that will ground the GRAY wire when selected; Make sure that the BROWN loop wire is connected, and the WHITE loop wire is disconnected. Be sure to insulate the ORANGE wire. Audio from AUX 1 will be interrupted, and audio from the AUX 2 input will pass through. The factory radio will display: A
2.) Activating AUX 2 using positive turn-on. If the Multimedia/Auxiliary device you are using is equipped with a 12V turn-on output, connect it to the ORANGE wire on the HONASX. Make sure that the BROWN loop wire is connected, and the WHITE loop wire is disconnected. Be sure to insulate the GRAY wire to insure that it does not come in contact with chassis ground. Once the Multimedia/Auxiliary device is powered up, audio from AUX 1 will be interrupted. The AUX 2 input becomes activated and the audio signal from that device will pass through. The factory radio will display: A

USASPEC PA11-HON2Y Honda iPod Interface Owner's Manual

The New PA11-HON2Y interface connects iPod products directly to Honda/Acura audio system. Its on-board software translates the factory radios external CD Changer controls functions into commands that the iPod understands. This interface enables the iPod to provide the following benefits:
1. Direct connection of the iPod to Honda vehicle audio system for optimum sound quality
2. Two playback modes:
Hybrid mode: select songs and playlist on the iPod using the CD Changer buttons on the radio
Direct Mode: Search and select songs directly on the iPod using the clickwheel and select button on the radio.
3. Maintain current playlist when switching from portable use to in-car use.
4. Charges the iPod internal battery --- and to prevent battery-drain, charging automatically ends one hour after iPod is paused
5. Auxiliary audio input [connect an audio device (mp3, DVD, Game, SAT radio etc) and listen to it on the factory system]
6. Plug-n-Play: This complete package includes installation cables, mounting screws and user’s manual.

HYBRID MODE, DIRECT MODE AND AUX. OPTION
The PA11-HON2Y provides two ways of controlling the iPod through the car radio, namely Hybrid mode (formerly Playlist Mode) and Direct Mode.
DIRECT MODE:
Search and select music on the iPod directly just as you would in portable use. Music will playback through your car stereo. Use the track up/down, fast forward and reverse buttons on your Honda radio or steering wheel to control music playback. All control functions on the iPod will still be available. Please see section 4 of this manual for additional information
HYBRID MODE:
In hybrid mode, the songs on the iPod are accessed exactly in the same way as in Playlist mode is explained in the owner’s manual. But, iPod screen is NOT LOCKED to “OK to disconnect” and iPod control keys are also fully functional. Therefore, while playing your iPod at any DISC location of the radio, you can manually change songs, change artist, change album, fast forward, and fast reverse etc. using the iPod buttons. (See Playlist Naming in section 4 of this manual). Dip switch #2 on the PA11-HON2Y interface is for mode selection. The “ON” position is for Hybrid Mode and the “OFF” position is for Direct Mode. It is preset to “ON” (Hybrid Mode) at the factory.
