1993 Honda Prelude Transmission Removal & Installation

1) Disconnect negative battery cable and ground strap at transaxle. Disconnect positive battery cable. Remove battery and battery base. Remove drain plug, and drain transaxle fluid (remove fill plug to speed draining). Install drain plug with NEW washer, and tighten plug to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS TABLE at the end of this article.
2) Disconnect wiring for starter motor, transaxle lock-up control solenoid and shift control solenoid. Remove starter. Disconnect mainshaft and countershaft speed sensor connectors. Remove complete air cleaner case assembly. Disconnect and remove throttle control cable at transaxle bracket.
3) Disconnect oil cooler hoses at joint pipes. Plug and support hoses aside. Remove transaxle upper mount bracket and rear stiffener. Remove vehicle speed sensor from transaxle without removing power steering hoses. Remove 4 upper transaxle mounting bolts.
CAUTION: When removing CV joint and drive axle assembly from transaxle, DO NOT pull on drive axle or knuckle. Inboard CV joint may separate. Pull on inboard joint.
4) Raise and support vehicle, and remove front wheels. Remove engine splash shield. Remove center crossmember bolts, and remove crossmember. Remove shock strut damper fork bolts and separate strut damper from fork. Remove right radius rod from control arm and frame. While prying on inboard CV joints, remove both drive axles from transaxle. Remove or support shafts aside. Protect inner CV joint spline from contamination by covering drive axle end by covering it with a plastic bag. Remove left intermediate shaft.
5) Remove engine stiffener bracket from between lower transaxle and engine block. Remove torque converter cover plate. Manually turn crankshaft pulley clockwise to access and remove 8 torque converter mounting bolts from torque converter drive plate.

Framon Sidewinder Instruction Manual

Your new machine will give you years of trouble-free service by following the instructions in this manual & using common sense with the machine. Please read this manual thoroughly and understand how to use the machine & maintain it to ensure a long service life. We would appreciate your taking a moment to fill out & mail your warranty registration card. The Sidewinder is designed to accurately duplicate high security side milled keys. These keys are currently being used by Mercedes Benz, Opel, BMW, Volvo, Saab, Infiniti, Lexus, VW, Audi, and Honda. All of the above keys can be cut using the Framon Sidewinder without the need for adapters or special cutters. Four rubber bumpers are included in the drawer which should be attached to the bottom legs of the machine to reduce vibration & movement of the machine.

Connecting The Machine To A Power Supply
The Framon Sidewinder can be equipped with a 110V AC, 220V AC, or 12V DC Motor. If your machine is equipped with the 110V motor, plug the machine into a properly grounded outlet. If you are planning on using an inverter, we recommend a minimum of 2000-Watt continuous, 4000-Watt peak. If you had your machine equipped with the 220V AC motor, you will need to attach a plug to the end of the cord. For 12 V DC users, you can attach a cigarette lighter plug on the end of the cord (the motor draws 9 amps) or wire the machine directly into your vehicle’s circuits.

Ford Mustang Wiring Diagram for 1987-1993 Instrument Cluster

If you are attempting to install a 1990-1993 steering wheel in a 1987-1989 car, then the steering column must also be changed. All
connections will hook up in the steering column except for the harness from the steering wheel, which provides the horn and cruise control signal. The windshield wipers will not work if the 1990-1993 switch is used on the 1987-1989 harness. Testing with a multimeter will show you the wires that Ford chose to move when the design of the switch changes. All controls have the same wiring except the windshield wipers. After the correct wires are determined, it is an easy task to remove the wires from the plug by pressing down on the tab on the front of the plug and sliding the wire out the back. Then, the wire can be inserted into the previously unused connection hole on the plug.

This process if much easier if you have an old harness from a 1990-1993 that comes out of the instrument cluster. The wires need to be as long as possible (6-8 inches), and they can be successfully wire tapped and soldered to the factory 1987-1989 harness.
