The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in International Financial Accounting is a joint programme offered by the Faculty of Economics, University of Neu- châtel, and the “Haute école de gestion Arc”, University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland. 1 http://www.roberthalf.co.uk Content The CAS consists of 15 ECTS, broken down into 3 modules: • financial statements and non-financial assets and liabilities (accounting principles and valuation, inventories, etc.); • financial assets and liabilities (risk and return, derivatives, hedging instru- ments, etc.); • audit, taxes & financial statement analysis (Swiss special tax status, inter- national tax, etc.). Courses are taught in English by international academics and senior practitio- ners. They will develop theories in lecture-based teaching and also practical applications through case studies allowing participants to develop real-life skills. General Objectives and Areas of Studies The aim of this executive education programme is to provide participants with comprehensive and practical expertise in the key areas of financial accounting by understanding business transactions, financial assets and liabilities, and by mastering international accounting standards (IFRS). Target Audience Managerial staff and practitioners working for – or aiming to work for – an inter- national company, within a finance and/or accounting department (e.g.: chief fi- nancial officers, accountants, controllers, auditors, etc.) or a financial institution (including shared service centers and audit firms). This programme is also intended for professionals who want to up-date and en- hance their knowledge and skills in accounting, and obtain insights into today’s methods to evaluate and account for financial assets and liabilities. It is also an excellent opportunity to share experience and best practices with faculty mem- bers, experts and peers. Admission The programme is open to candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent, i.e.: Swiss Certified Specialist for Finance and Accounting).
